This “mentoring program” will provide guidance, support and accessibility to all trustees wishing this connection. Hopefully, this program will provide additional support and professional
development for
trustees to grow and become knowledgeable advocates for “public education.”
Hopefully, meaningful relationships will develop and serve as a resource when confronted with varied situations with board policies, board culture, board operations, board/superintendent
relations and
legislative impacts.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Create a one-on-one connection to another trustee
2. Provide an overview of “trustees’” roles and responsibilities
3. Explain the services of the Caucus
4. Review board policies and operational manual
5. Discuss best practices in governance
6. Participate in federal and state advocacy movements
7. Explain and discuss local, state and national organizations/programs
8. Networking at least once a month (telephone call, email, text messages, etc.)
9. Mentors and mentees will work together for at least 12 months
